Project Management and Scrum - A Personal Perspective

Dave will tell the story of how three completely different models of project management and Scrum governance were applied to successful projects at Nike. It is an opportunity for the audience to explore the malleable nature and intersection of PM and Scrum Master roles. He will also convey the “Tips and Tricks” he developed, that are reusable in traditional and agile project efforts.hey write.

Speaker Bio

Dave has worked as an IT Leader in Systems Development, Integration and Project Management, successfully engaging customers and managing skilled technical teams and external partners in the full life cycle of innovative solutions. He has specific experience in adapting Agile and Scrum principles and processes across teams and operations including, Nike, College Loan, Entriq, and Pacific Bell Information Systems.

Dave received his BA from Valparaiso University, his MBA from St. Mary’s College of California, has additionally done post-grad work in Computer Science at Stanford University, and also earned a Certificate in Telecommunications Management at UC Berkeley. He is forever indebted to his early career mentors at Pacific Bell who encouraged him to pursue their excellent training in structured IT methodologies, including project management.

Dave earned his PMP certificate in 2002, and played a small role on the PMI Committee that published the first Standards for Portfolio and Program Management in 2006. He has published “Practical Tactics for Agile IT Release Management – A Case Study (2009)” and “A Primer for the Project Management Process (2005)”.
