PROJECT EVEREST Reaching New Heights in Project Management
Module 1 - Keynote: “Project Everest: Hybrid Agile Strategies for Reaching New Heights in Project Management”
Abstract: Built around the two years of planning and two months of climbing that went into making the project of reaching the summit of Mount Everest a reality for Alan and three other members of his immediate family. It is an engaging visual and educational journey with project management tools, strategies, and examples that attendees can put into action to make positive changes in their professional and personal lives.
Module 2: “Managing Risk in the Face of Uncertainty”
Abstract: This interactive session focuses on identifying, understanding and managing project risks. Discernment about relative impacts should risk be realized is crucial as is attempting to quantify the likelihood based on historical data and other sources. Alan draws parallels from mountaineering challenges that allow project managers to better approach risk management in their own projects.
Module 3: “Emotional Intelligence for Managing Diverse and Complex Teams”
Abstract: This session focuses on psychological and emotional considerations that influence project leaders and teams. Alan’s philosophy of life revolves around living proactively rather than reactively and he has infused his proactive approach into the tools, strategies, discussions and activities that he shares throughout his engaging session on emotional intelligence for project managers.
Guest Speaker: Alan Mallory
Alan is an international speaker, author and performance coach who is passionate about leadership and and reaching new heights in all that we do. His unique philosophy of life revolves around empowering people and embracing an agile mentality focused on goals and relationships. He has worked internationally with large organizations as a professional engineer and project manager developing patents and implementing solutions to complex challenge in the mining and metals industry. Alan holds a degree in Engineering from Queen’s University and a Masters in Psychology from Adler University, giving him a well-balanced approach to the outer and inner challenges we all face. Building experience through a lifestyle of adventure and challenge, in the spring of 2008 Alan embarked on the project of a lifetime and set a world record on Mount Everest along with three members of his immediate family. The expedition involved two years of planning and two months of climbing through immense challenges but they were able to overcome these obstacles through strategic planning, healthy team dynamics, self-awareness and perseverance.
