Community Engagement vs. Stakeholder Engagement

Learn and discuss how true community engagement requires strategies beyond just checking the boxes of stakeholder engagement, particularly if community engagement is to be equitable and inclusive.

Guest Speaker: Adriane Ackerman

Adriane Ackerman (she/her/ella) is a strategic consultant and community convener with over 20 years of experience managing, administrating, and facilitating partnerships and programs within the public sector at the local, regional, and national scale. Through her agency, Agile Accomplice LLC, Adriane works with partners to deepen community connection, build coalitions and communities of practice, and generally “bring out the best in bureaucracy.” Recent clients and partners include the Houston Endowment, Dalberg Design, the Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona, the Pima County Health Department, and the Pima County Community Prevention Coalition.

Before starting her consultancy, Adriane served as the Program Director for the Pima County Health Department’s Advancing Health Literacy to Enhance Equitable Community Response to COVID-19 program. She also co-created the County's first Cultural Health initiative, SaludArte, and the nation’s first Office of Policy, Resilience and Equity, both of which aim to increase health literacy and equity through innovative models, by elevating and centering the leadership of historically, and contemporarily, excluded communities.
