AI in Action: Empowering Project Managers with Dynamic Risk Management

This session will explore how Artificial Intelligence is transforming an often overlooked component of project management- risk management- by equipping project managers across sectors with new tools to monitor, assess, and respond to risks in real time. Attendees will be introduced to a foundational approach for using AI to support dynamic risk practices—where risks are continuously identified, evaluated, and updated as conditions change throughout a project’s lifecycle. The discussion will highlight how AI can analyze complex project information, surface hidden issues early, support compliance, and enhance decision-making with less manual effort. Rather than replacing existing frameworks, AI strengthens them by improving visibility, consistency, and responsiveness—whether applied in construction, IT, environmental projects, or beyond. We'll explore key principles for adopting AI in a way that complements internal processes, supports cross-team communication, and builds organizational resilience. As a real-world example, we’ll share how our team at Dependbuild is using AI to help municipalities manage infrastructure project risks more proactively by analyzing documents, flagging emerging concerns, and aligning with ISO 31000 practices—all while reducing reporting burdens and improving project certainty.

Dependbuild is an AI-native risk and knowledge management platform that helps infrastructure owners, like municipalities, deliver projects more effectively and manage assets with greater precision. By centralizing critical information and breaking down departmental silos, we reduce cost overruns, improve efficiency, embed best practices, and enhance risk transparency across the infrastructure lifecycle.

Guest Speaker : Jean-Samuel Poirier

Jean-Samuel Poirier is the Chief Operating Officer of Dependbuild, a SaaS platform that helps municipalities manage infrastructure project risk using artificial intelligence. With a background in engineering and an MBA, Jean-Samuel brings a decade of experience in consulting, strategy, and impact-driven innovation. He has worked extensively with Indigenous governments, municipalities, and public sector partners to improve project delivery through better risk identification, stakeholder alignment, and data-driven decision-making.

Now leading operations and product strategy at Dependbuild, Jean-Samuel is focused on transforming how communities manage risk throughout the lifecycle of capital projects. His work leverages AI to automate the identification and tracking of project risks, enabling municipal teams to reduce cost overruns, improve transparency, and make faster, more informed decisions.
